Our Journey

From it's roots in Japan circa 1532, it's evolution in Brazil 1925, to modern no-gi grappling, Jiu Jitsu has seen a wealth of change throughout its nearly 500 year journey.

10th Planet Jiu Jitsu was founded in 2003 by Eddie Bravo, an accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner under Jean Jacques Machado. After gaining fame for defeating Royler Gracie in the 2003 ADCC World Championships, Eddie Bravo developed 10th Planet as a NO-GI, submission-focused system, breaking away from traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). It emphasizes techniques tailored for NO-GI Jiu Jitsu, but also has a focus on MMA and self defence. Bravo's goal was to create a modern, adaptable style that moves away from the reliance on the gi, gaining popularity for its innovative approach..
